Koh Rong Island in Cambodia

Koh Rong is one of the most famous islands in Cambodia. It is located just off the coast of Sihanoukville – Roughly 25 kilometres from the coast of the mainland.

Once hosting the popular TV-series ‘Survivor’, Koh Lanta, Koh Rong is known for its serene beauty and breath-taking scenery. Described as an ‘island paradise’ by visiting tourists, it is a perfect holiday destination for families, couples, and groups of travellers.

Whether you want to lie back, unwind, and admire the magnificent views, swim in the crystal-clear ocean waters, explore the exotic wildlife, or learn the historic Khmer culture, the stunning Koh Rong Island will give you the memories for a lifetime.

The main tourist beach (Koh Touch) creates a vibrant party atmosphere, with lots of hotels, bars, and night clubs. The quiet, less-busier beaches (e.g. Sok San, Lonely Beach, Long Beach) offer peaceful relaxing vacations.

Though accommodation generally varies between the very basic and the more comfortable, if you want to stay in true luxury there are several great options available, including Song Saa Private Island ($2000+ / night) and the new Royal Sands Koh Rong ($250 – $2000 / night).

There are 4 main villages on the island: Koh Tuich, Doeum D’keuw, Prek Svay and Sok San. Because the island is 2/3 beaches, fishing is and has always been the main industry for the locals. As such, the villages are situated around the island’s natural harbours. The townspeople often sell trinkets and handmade goods to tourists from small stands to boost their incomes.

If you want a great lifestyle very close to these beautiful islands, there are some great new prospects being built nearby. Blue Bay Condominiums in Sihanoukville are particularly appealing.

If you’re looking to visit a place that’s beautiful and relaxing, yet exciting and bursting with culture, Koh Rong Island in Cambodia is the place to go. The island is just a short boat ride from the mainland of Cambodia and a visit there will surely change the way you view the world.
